Chronograph Announces Investment from Carlyle Affiliate, AlpInvest, and Nasdaq Ventures; Strategic Relationship with AlpInvest, eVestment

May 28, 2019, New York – Chronograph, a provider of portfolio monitoring and reporting solutions for institutional private capital investors, today announced it has completed its Series A round of financing. AlpInvest Partners, a global private equity investor and affiliate of The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG), led the round, and was joined by Nasdaq Ventures. The investment will help Chronograph attract key talent in product development, sales, and operations to support the company’s strong growth. AlpInvest’s investment came from The Carlyle Group’s balance sheet.

In addition, Chronograph has entered into strategic partnerships with AlpInvest and eVestment, a subsidiary of Nasdaq, which will leverage AlpInvest’s significant expertise in the primary, secondary, and co-investment businesses, and eVestment’s leadership in technology, institutional data and analytics, to further enhance Chronograph’s proprietary technology. These partnerships will build on Chronograph’s automated approach to data aggregation and advanced analytics to continue to strengthen the company’s best-in-class software solutions.

Chronograph is a financial technology and data management provider to institutional limited partners and general partners in private capital markets. The company’s platforms automate data extraction and aggregation from source documents, Excel files, and other systems to enable robust portfolio monitoring and analytics for front, middle, and back-office functions. Chronograph was founded and is led by private equity investment professionals and technologists with a keen understanding of the intersection of technology and private capital workflows.

Charlie Tafoya, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chronograph, said, “We are thrilled to partner with AlpInvest, Nasdaq, and the eVestment teams, each of whom brings significant market expertise and perspective. We look forward to benefiting from their experience as we continue to innovate and develop technology infrastructure for the next generation of private capital markets.”

“AlpInvest has pursued and identified a variety of ways to further leverage its information advantage by using technology, and concluded Chronograph has a highly differentiated approach. Our investment and partnership with Chronograph and eVestment will allow us to play a leading role in the technological changes that are going to shape the future of private markets,” said Eric Hanno, Managing Director and Co-head of AlpInvest Partners’ Primary Fund Investments.

Katey Bogue, Head of eVestment Private Markets, said of the partnership: “The Chronograph platform offers an innovative new solution for private markets portfolio monitoring and analysis post-investment. By creating connectivity between our platforms and datasets, we can offer institutional limited partners and GPs in private capital markets a comprehensive capability on both a pre- and post-investment basis.
