Charity group Hedge Funds Care announced Monday that its Midwest division has confirmed its list of 17 organizations that will receive grants for the 2012 to 2013 cycle.
The hedge fund-backed organization, which addresses the prevention, education and treatment of child abuse, said in a statement that the 17 organizations will share a total of $620,000. The money was donated by hedge fund professionals.
Some of the Midwest beneficiaries include Juvenile Protection Association, Community Counseling Centers of Chicago, Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center and The Family Defense Center.
Since its inception in 1998, Hedge Funds Care has awarded 930 grants to various organizations totaling more than $33 million.
