Newly-established commodities trader CF Partners has launched a long/short equity fund.
Risk.net reported that this will be CF Partner's first hedge fund since it started trading in December 2012 with $29 million of internal money. The new fund will trade on the utilities, oil and infrastructure sectors.
Thomas Rassmuson, the head of business development at CF, said that "[leveraging] the in-house energy and regulatory expertise and Alvaro [Ventosa]'s [availability]" was what prompted the fund's launch. Ventosa is the chief investment officer and partner at CF Partners.
Ventosa was previously a hedge fund manager at Spanish firm Cygnus Asset Management, where he managed the utilities, oil and infrastructure sectors.
The new fund primarily invests in cash equities across 20 to 40 positions.
