Former hedge fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller is among 58 people or organizations who gave the Masters Tournament Foundation a total of $6.8 million in 2011.
Bloomberg reported that Druckenmiller, who was the chairman and president of the now-defunct hedge fund firm Duquesne Capital Management, gave $100,000 to the organization that year. The foundation was created two years ago to fund global golf initiatives.
Some of the charities the foundation has funded includes the Augusta, Ga. chapter of the First Tee, a national organization that uses golf to promote leadership and education among the youth.
An avid golfer, Druckenmiller is a regular at various golfing clubs throughout the U.S. Before shutting down Duquesne Capital in 2010, the firm averaged annual returns of 30% since 1986.
