San Francisco-based hedge fund firm Conifer Fund Services announced Wednesday that it will open an office in Canada’s fastest growing hedge fund administration center.
In a statement released Wednesday, Conifer explained that it chose Halifax, Nova Scotia over competing locations due to the region’s “nearshore advantages including cost, proximity to clients and access to skilled talent.”
Stephen Lund, the president and CEO of Nova Scotia Business, added that the “growth of the [region’s] financial services industry is rooted in the province’s inherent advantages including New York and London.” In addition to fund administrators, there are also a slew of firms in Nova Scotia that supports the hedge fund industry with services that includes legal, accounting, due diligence, risk management and consulting.
The launch date of the new full-service office has not yet been determined, however a Conifer spokesman told eVestment that it will be “sometime before the year ends.”
Conifer has additional offices in New York and the British Virgin Islands.
