The former head of prime brokerage account management at UBS has joined JPMorgan Chase as a managing director.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S.-based banking giant has named Chris Barber as the new head of prime brokerage account management for Asia-Pacific. He will be based in Hong Kong.
Barber’s appointment comes amidst the bank’s attempt to win business in Asia’s growing hedge fund industry. The prime brokerage industry provides services such as lending and capital raising to hedge funds.
Separately, JPMorgan hired David Leahy from Credit Suisse to head the bank’s Asia-Pacific prime services sales unit in May.
