Brokerage firm BGC Partners, in partnership with Cantor Fitzgerald, has raised approximately $12 million for charities around the world for the companies’ annual Charity Day on September 11.
In a statement released Thursday, BGC said that some of the celebrities who donated their time in several of their global offices include Prince Harry and Prince Williams and professional basketball players Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and Deron Williams.
Prince Harry and Prince William also broke the world record for the largest foreign currency trade when they closed a foreign exchange deal worth over $33 billion.
Begun to commemorate the 658 Cantor employees lost in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, the organization has expanded to assist charitable causes worldwide, in concert with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund. Charity Day has raised approximately $101 million globally since its inception.
BGC offers financial technology solutions, market data, and analytics to hedge funds, banks, and trading firms.
