UBS’ hedge fund unit is planning to launch its first Asia-focused fund later this year to external investors.
Bloomberg reported that O’Connor’s new fund, which started trading in August with internal money, will focus on fundamental long-short tactical trading.
The fund is led by Singapore-based John Bradshaw and David Perrett in New York, who both have over two decades of trading experience, including more than 12 years focused on Asia.
Stephane Pizzo, managing partner at Singapore-based investment adviser Lotus Peak Capital, told Bloomberg that “it’s only natural for smart traders and investors [trade on Asia]” as the region has the “highest growth in emerging markets and improving liquidity.”
O’Connor manages approximately $5.7 billion in assets.
