New York-based alternative investment firm Angelo, Gordon & Co. announced Wednesday that a high-ranking employee at the New York City Retirement Systems is joining the firm next month.
Angelo, Gordon & Co. said in a statement that Lawrence M. Schloss, currently the deputy comptroller for Asset Management and chief investment officer for the New York City Retirement Systems, will start his new role as president of the firm on November 11.
In Schloss’ new role, he will be responsible for helping Angelo, Gordon & Co. meet “the evolving and challenging investment needs” of its investors.
During Schloss’ nearly four-year tenure at NYCRS, which is the country’s fourth largest pension fund, he grew the pension’s assets from about $100 billion to $145 billion.
Founded in 1988, Angelo, Gordon & Co. manages about $24 billion in assets.
