Japanese brokerage firm Nomura Holdings has hired the former head of European equity sales at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Financial News reported that Mike Ward, who will be based in London, is now the head of equity sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Nomura.
Chris Fleming, the head of global markets sales for EMEA said in an emailed statement to Financial News that Ward’s “deep relationships with institutional investors, hedge funds and banks” will help Nomura “make further inroads in building [the firm’s] client franchise across EMEA.”
Ward left BAML to join hedge fund start-up C8 Investments, a computer-driven hedge fund firm founded by former BlueCrest Capital Management principals Mattias Eriksson and Patrick Finn, two years ago.
Founded in 1925, Nomura has locations around the world including Hong Kong, London and New York.
