GoldenTree Asset Management has hired Filippo Sampietro to help manage the firm’s European asset-backed products business.
Bloomberg reported that Sampietro will report to Cee Sarabi, who moved to London from New York in September in preparation for his new role as the New York-based hedge fund’s first money manager for structured products in Europe.
Sampietro most recently worked at Italian investment bank Mediobanca SpA and previously held roles at Morgan Stanley and Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
GoldenTree is the latest U.S. hedge fund, which include Ellington Management Group and MKP Capital Management, to relocate and add staff to its London office for asset-backed securities roles.
GoldenTree manages approximately $18 billion in assets.
