Houston-based energy hedge fund Goldfinch Capital is planning to launch a natural gas-focused fund in the next several months.
Reuters reported that the new fund, known as Mirarc Capital Management, will also be located in Houston and will likely start trading in July. Former Goldfinch trader Rick Thielke and former Cornerstone Global Commodities energy broker Brandon Cochran will be listed as co-founders of the new fund.
Thielke joined Goldfinch in January 2013 from SandRidge Capital, another Houston-based natural-gas focused hedge fund where he was portfolio manager and head of analytics. Cochran was most recently a managing partner for natural gas derivatives at Cornerstone.
Mirarc is expected to receive "substantial" seed capital from an institutional investor.
