2016 Asset Allocation & Consultant Survey
eVestment’s Asset Allocation and Consultant Survey 2016 offers a unique view into institutional investment consultants thoughts on how the 2016 investment market will unfold. In the survey, market volatility was a key concern and respondents noted increased interest in alternative investment options, particularly private equity.
Based on surveys of consultants from all over the world, and augmented with data from eVestment’s own data and analytics, the report highlights trends players in the institutional investment world should be aware of as they look to navigate what promises to be a volatile year.
Some key findings in the report include:
- Mandates for alternative investments are expected to make up a significant portion of search activity, 32.5% on average, in 2016.
- Consultants are primarily concerned about low expected returns, potential market volatility and clients’ ability to meet return hurdles in the current environment.
- Consultants expect replacements to dominate long-only equity searches. Searches in the alternatives space are expected to be from new mandates, commodities being the exception.
