Country Summary Report – Germany

This report is a detailed look at trends, opportunities and weaknesses of institutional asset managers domiciled in Germany. We look at German firms’ standing relative to peers in Europe and the UK as reported to eVestment from a product, asset, and platform viewership perspective.

This report uses information provided to eVestment by asset managers domiciled throughout Continental Europe, and curated by eVestment from the use of our platform by institutional asset owners and consultants globally.

Highlights

  • Germany is the dominant balanced/multi-asset product provider in Continental Europe, however they appear very underrepresented within the $70 billion of UK investor demand in this category, illustrating a potentially meaningful opportunity.
  • German firms had net inflows in 2017 into each of their largest product offerings’ universes, indicating an effective product mix and marketing efforts compared to their major European, UK and US peers.
  • While third highest behind France and Switzerland, the proportion of product views captured by German firms from allocators and consultants has been eroded by the rise of smaller domiciles, notably Denmark and Netherlands, both of which have shown to provide far more complete data to eVestment than German firms.
