Atlanta Capital is an investment boutique with growth equity, core equity and fixed income teams serving the institutional investor market. Amanda Kokan is the director of managed account operations and marketing at Atlanta Capital. “My team oversees our marketing operations – pitch books, fact sheets, marketing materials, consultant databases, RFPs, RFIs and any due diligence requests that come in.”

Amanda has been working with eVestment’s Professional Services team over the last year to develop custom report templates using eVestment’s PowerLink Excel plug-in as well as to create a comprehensive Product Intelligence Report using data from the Asset Flows and Advantage modules.

“The PowerLink report has probably helped my team the most. The eVestment team was able to help us create a template that displays the data in a transposed format which we were unable to do through the workflow tool in Analytics. And it’s nice that all we have to do is hit refresh every quarter and all the information is in one workbook versus having to pull data out, transfer it, get it into the format we want to see it in and save everything individually.”

She said, “This report has been a huge help for us and is definitely a time saver.”

Product Intelligence Reports

Amanda said the initial need for this report came from a higher level in the firm, as the president and head of marketing wanted to see how Atlanta Capital’s strategies were looking versus their peers. She said, “They saw the value in the data, but bringing it all together was a challenge from a time perspective for them.”

Amanda said her executives were interested in learning how consultants were looking at their strategies and where they were failing, either due to missing criteria or missing data. “The eVestment team helped us tremendously with creating these reports on the strategies that we were most interested in marketing. We also pulled in some of our competitors on the socially responsible side so we could see what their data looked like as well.”

Amanda said the report includes data points such as largest net assets, inflows, outflows, top perceived peers, most viewed products for the quarter, all on a per strategy basis.

“I’m able to refresh the data each quarter. The Excel file is connected to a PowerPoint template, which I can send to executives at our firm so that they have a broader picture of how we’re doing in the marketplace.”

Working with the eVestment Team

Amanda said her experience working with the eVestment Professional Services team was “seamless.” She continued, “The product report has been a work in progress. As eVestment updates their technology and makes their platform more efficient, that changed the way that we pull all the data into these reports. Every quarter, the eVestment specialists worked with me one-on-one on getting the spreadsheets changed to the most up-to-date features. The team was easy to work with and made the process go as smoothly as possible.”

When asked what Amanda would have done without the Professional Services team, she answered, “I would have had to tell my executives that what they were asking for was not possible, or I would have had to look at an outside vendor to see if they could help me with the data.”

“My advice to others would be to reach out to the eVestment team and just ask them for what you are looking to achieve. Typically, they will be able to find a solution for you.”
