United State-focused equity strategies made a strong showing among new products entering the list of most viewed products on eVestment in April. Four of the eight new products entering April’s global top 20 most viewed product list were US-focused equity strategies. Three of these new US-focused entrants were large cap products and one was a small cap product.
Changes in viewership of asset management firms, their products and geographic focuses can be driven by changing investor demand; positive or negative company news; company marketing initiatives; global or local economic or political events; or other factors. Reviewing this data on its own tells a high-level story of what investors and consultants were interested in during the past month. And comparing this data to world and corporate events can offer a unique insight into institutional investors’ concern about these events.
Some interesting points from the latest data include:
- Institutional investors and consultants in the United Kingdom overwhelmingly showed interest in balanced/multi-asset strategies, with 13 on the most viewed UK product list in April. Two of these, both new to April’s list, were products managed by BlackRock: BlackRock: Dynamic Diversified Growth and BlackRock: Market Advantage (Risk Parity).
- Clients located in Europe ex-UK almost completely reshuffled their top viewed products list, as only one strategy (Newton Investment Management: Newton Global Real Return EUR) remained from March’s list.
- Africa/Middle East eVestment users completely reshuffled their most-viewed products in April, with not a single product from March showing up on the top list in April.
- Among global investors and consultants, the top 3 universes by average views per product were unchanged, but coming in at fourth place and entering April’s top 20 list was the US Passive Large Cap Growth Equity universe. APAC clients pushed two new universes, UK All Cap Value Equity (traditional) and Fundamental – Long/Short Credit (alternatives), to first and second place, respectively.
