US Investors, Consultants Lean to Equities in October

United States-based institutional investors and consultants using eVestment in October had a strong interest in equity strategies, according to the just-released October 2017 eVestment Advantage Viewership Report. All but one of the top products reviewed on eVestment by investors and consultants from the United States were equity focused.

Europe ex-UK investors and consultants were evenly balanced between equity and fixed-income products with a 50/50 split among the top products viewed. Twenty-four percent of the top viewed products among UK investors and consultants were balanced/multi-asset.

The Advantage investment viewership data is generated through the eVestment Advantage solution and based on tracking daily eVestment user reviews of investment universes and products on eVestment. The report looks at Global, United States, United Kingdom, Europe ex-UK, Asia-Pacific and Canada profile viewership activity among the institutional investors and consultants who use eVestment. The report looks at the most popular products and universes overall for the past month and the universes and products that saw the most month-over-month growth in views on the site.

A few other interesting points from the latest screening report include:

  • Clients located in Europe ex-UK had the highest turnover in their top universe (by average reviews per product) list in October, maintaining just US Corporate Fixed Income and US Large Cap Value Equity universes within the top from last month’s lineup. The list for clients located in Canada was the stickiest, with nearly half (9 of 20) of September’s universes making it to October.
  • There were five US-focused products in October’s top 20 list, up from just one in last month’s tally. Three of the four new US-focused entrants provided positive YTD excess returns relative to their benchmarks while one underperformed by about 100 bps.
  • Investors and consultants located in Africa/Middle East were the most globally-focused, with nearly two-thirds of the products on their top list citing global as a geographic focus.
